Joint forces tang soo do
Joint forces tang soo do
This is not a sport-oriented activity but rather a classical Martial Art class. JFTSD instructors teach with the purpose of developing every aspect of the self (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) so you can better integrate your intellect, body, emotions, and spirit.
Physically, Tang Soo Do is more similar to Korean Tae Kwon Do or Japanese Karate as it is a striking art utilizing circular movements to generate force versus ground-fighting/grappling (i.e. Judo, Ju-Jitsu), joint-locking (i.e. Hapkido), hybrid (i.e. Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, MMA), or weapon-centric (i.e. Kendo, Filipino Escrima). Additionally, Tang Soo Do is not a current fad or popular phenomenon and it has survived in its traditional state for 2,000 years.
Class training will vary to include basic techniques, forms, flow drills, sparring, self-defense, and weapons. There are no prerequisites for training and the class is open to anyone regardless of prior training or experience. Uniforms and other optional training materials will either be provided by the instructors or made available to purchase. Also, being a member of the World Tang Soo Do Association, students will have the opportunity to attend regional and international clinics, tournaments, and seminars and join with over 150,000 members spanning 36 countries.
Now, on the island of Oahu in Kailua, Hawaii, Joint Forces Tang Soo Do is rising again. Hopefully, our Tang Soo Do ohana will find us here and we can be THE place for WTSDA members to vacation (and train).
